Background & Inspiration
"Knowing your own darkness is the best way of dealing with the darkness of other people" - CARL JUNG

My name is Shweta. I am a Yoga & Mindfulness Therapist for Mental Health with a specialist interest in Perinatal Mental Health and Somatic and Psychological Inquiry. I currently work as NHS adult therapist at a specialist Mother and Baby Unit near London and see clients privately in my practice in Camden, London and Kings Langley, Hertfordshire. I am currently also training as (MSc) Integrative Psychotherapist at the Metanoia Institute in London.
I am on the business advisory board of the Minded Institute and am a senior supervisor and lecturer on their 500h Yoga Therapy Professional Training Programme.
I am on the editorial board of Motherdom Magazine and am a speaker raising awareness of maternal mental health issues and the responsible use and benefit of non-medicalised interventions for mental health. I speak and run workshops for organisations on understanding and optimising mental health using non-medicalised interventions and also speak at National Mental Health conferences about the efficacy of Yoga and Mindfulness practices as therapeutic interventions for clinical populations.
I have an award winning first class honors degree in Psychology and Social Anthropology, and before becoming a full-time mother to my two boys, I had a successful eight-year career as a Management Consultant.
I have been teaching since 2012 and have had a personal yoga and mindfulness practice for over 20 years. I am a great believer in developing my academic and theoretical understanding as well as being committed to my own reflective process and practice. I believe both to play an equally important role in my offerings to my clients and my development as a practitioner.
I am passionate about understanding the biopsychosocial factors that impact mental health and as such integrate both Eastern and Western philosophy, psychology, mindfulness, yoga, neuroscience and spirituality into my approach of working with individuals in both my NHS role and my private practice.
